About Us
Dan Smith has extensive expertise in firearm handling, instruction, and appraisals.
Specifically he has:
• 56 years of hunting experience – From big game, small game upland birds, and waterfowl. Dan has successfully hunted Whitetail, Mule Deer, Elk, Pronghorn, Bighorn Sheep, Black Bear as well as several species of African Plains Game.
• a Masters Degree (ABT) in Outdoor Resource Management – University of Montana. Dan wrote the research proposal and grant for the Idaho Elk Hunter Study 1989 – 1990. Supervised research to model hunter-caused Elk mortality and published his findings in the 1991 Elk Vulnerability Symposium.
• worked at the Cabela’s Gun Library selling, trading, and appraising firearms. Have since done appraisals on private firearm collections and made recommendations for sale.
• held and maintained a Federal Firearms Curio and Relic (Type3) Federal Firearms license for 25 years.
• been a Volunteer Hunter Education Instructor since 1992.
• been the Lead instructor for the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers – North Idaho “learn to Hunt Program” for advanced hunter education.
• Dan is also an NRA Certified Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol and Concealed Carry Instructor, and NRA Certified Chief Range Safety Officer.

This includes any damage to property or injury to persons resulting from the condition, operation, or handling of the inspected items.
